Weekend Hikes and Camping

Faculty member, Mr. Charles Herbst coordinates the weekend hikes and camping trips at the San Marino Campus. This year the students have gone to Bear Canyon, which is located only a few miles away and is filled with waterfalls, small cascades, lovely pools, wooded stream side trail and deep canyons.

With the warm weather in December the students went to "The Bridge to Nowhere," a never-used highway bridge. It was part of a highway project abandoned in the 1930's due to flooding washing out most of the highway leading to the bridge. It is located up Highway 39 north of Azusa.

The first camping trip of the year was a 3 day/2 night backpack extravaganza up the Palm Spring Aerial Tram, then hiking into the San Jacinto Wilderness 3 miles to camp in Round Valley. On Saturday we summited Mt. San Jacinto (elevation 10,800 feet). Sunday we drove home.
